Hey y’all! Welcome to The Southern Girl. My name is Meleah Hysell. I’m a Kentucky girl born and raised. I was a cheerleader for 7 years and after winning nationals in 2018, my senior year of high school, I decided to retire my pom poms and cheer shoes. It was such a big part of me that it was sad to say goodbye to that chapter in my life, but was excited to see what God had/has planned for me. Fast forward to today and I am focusing on myself more than ever. I keep up with my health, volunteer work at my local humane society, exercising everyday, and handling whatever life throws at me. I am working hard in college that in fall of 2020 I will graduate with a degree in graphic design. I don’t have much plans after graduating college but just seeing where life takes me.
A few things about me: I was born with Cystic Fibrosis, which you can read more in my health tab. I am a dog lover. I can be shy at first but once I start talking you can never get me to shut up. I am big homebody, but once I get out of my home I have alot of fun. I love getting creative all the way from the computer to the kitchen. I have started this blog as a creative outlet to share my design work and life.
My creativity started at an early age. I remember sitting in my craft room with my sister drawing and creating anything I could imagine. I spent most of my childhood being creative, from drawing cartoons to design/decorating cards for people. As I grew up, the love for being creative has never left me.
I remember in middle school my dad showing me house plans he drew in high school and right after that’s all I wanted to do. As I went into my junior year of high school, I had a website design class and fell in love with it. From then I had a new career path. I found myself glued to a computer working on website designs whenever I had the chance.
With a passion for being creative, I have used it in everything from decorating cookies, cakes, event spaces, websites, logos, flyers, and anything you can imagine. I strive to accomplish anything and everything that comes my way. I explore many creative outlets with one goal – being great at what I do. I want to use my creativity to express myself and allow others to use it as their message.
